The Haryana police today arrested three persons for allegedly smuggling poppy husk and seized six quintals of the contraband, worth around Rs 30 lakh, from their possession in Bhiwani district.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team intercepted a truck at the Kairu Chowk in Tosham area of the district and recovered 600 kg of poppy husk worth around Rs 30 lakh from it, a police spokesman said here.

He said the accused were identified as Vishnu, Sushil and Rohtash alias Nathu. All of them hail from Fatehabad district.

"The accused would be produced in court and they would be further quizzed regarding the origins and final destination of the poppy husk," he said.

In the last three weeks, the Bhiwani police has seized 21 quintals of poppy husk with a market value of about Rs 80 lakh, including the May 21 seizure of 15 quintals of poppy husk worth about Rs 50 lakh.
