The vehicles recovered included one truck, two power tillers, six bikes, eight jeeps, one pick-up van and a car.

Police identified the accused as Ranjit Prasad (28) of Makhnapara in Sambalpur, Prasanta alias Pramod Nayak (44) of village Talarpasi in Dhenkanal district and Pradeep Kumar Sabar (21) of HAL Township, Sunabeda in Koraput district.

The arrest of the trio was made on the basis of information provided by two persons who had been arrested earlier on March 18, police said.

"Acting on the information, police arrested the three who revealed their involvement in lifting 19 vehicles," said Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Akhilesvar Singh.

While Ranjit and Pradeep were involved in stealing the vehicles, Prasanta helped them in changing the chasis number of stolen vehicles, said police.
