Kolkata: Three arrested in gangrape of foreign national
The search to nab the fourth accused is still on.
Three persons were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the gangrape of a foreign national, which took place late on Sunday night.
The three arrested were earlier detained by the Electronics Complex Police Station of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. The vehicle, in which the victim was raped was also seized by the police.
On Sunday night, the victim, a Nepal-national had boarded a radio cab from Baguihati to Salt Lake Sector- V, to meet her friends over dinner around 11.30pm. She got down several metres away from the restaurant and started walking towards it when an SUV car pulled up next to her and forced her inside the vehicle. The four men inside the car took turns to rape her for over three hours in the moving car.
Around 3 am in the morning, the four men dumped her near Baisakhi. A taxi driver found her in a semi-conscious state and rushed her to the Bidhannagar Mahukuma Hospital.
The victim had been living in Salt Lake area's Baguihati for the last three years as a paying guest and worked nearby.
Police are also carrying out searches for the fourth accused, who is still at large.
