On a sticky wicket over the Bomai killings, the army on Friday indicted three soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer (JCO), for lapses during the operation in which two civilians were killed on February 21.

“The inquiry has held the JOC and two soldiers of 22 Rashtriya Rifles, involved in the Bomai incident, accountable for various lapses,” said Lt Col JS Brar, defence spokesperson, said.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hailed the Army on Friday for conducting an inquiry into the killing of two youths in Bomai-Sopore area in a “transparent” manner.

The incident occurred on February 21 when troops of 22 RR allegedly fired at civilians at Bomai Chowk killing Muhammad Amin Tantray and Javid Ahmad Dar and injuring another civilian.
