This story of a man who proved humanity is above all religion will simply melt our heart
"No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion … if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love.” - Nelson Mandela said once.
At a time when communal violence and tensions are being reported from various places across India, this story of a man who proved humanity that is above religion will simply melt our hearts.
A Bihar man went out of his way to save a child suffering from thalassemia, a condition which needs blood transfusion in every three-four weeks. Now how may you ask? Well, a man identified as Jawed Alam, observing "roza" broke his Ramzan fast to donate blood to 8-year-old Rajesh Kumar in Gopalganj, according to an IANS report.
The minor, who was suffering was thalassemia, was admitted to Sadar hospital and needed an immediate blood transfusion. After witnessing the kid's deteriorating condition, Anwar Hussain, a sweeper working at the hospital informed his friend Alam and urged for his help. Hussain agreed to help and decided to donate blood to the child. However, the doctors had a condition - He had to break his fast before donating blood! Hussain kept aside his religious practice for the sake of saving the kid's life and consumed food and also fruit juice.
The kid's father had travelled more than 200 kms from Kuchaikote area for the treatment of his son.
"My religion teaches me to help a fellow human first, so I broke my fast and donated blood to save little Rajesh. Islam preaches that humanity is bigger than everything," Alam was quoted as saying by IANS.
