The engineering colleges will now train students on developing creative mobile applications.
The Rajeev Gandhi Praudyogik Vidyalaya (RGPV) which is the parent university of all engineering colleges of Indore is going to sign a memorandum with IT giant IBM wherein students will be free of cost trained to develop mobile applications.
The MoU is likely to be signed in October, said RGPV vice-chancellor Prof Piyush Trivedi.
"IBM officials will initially train faculty members who will train students to develop mobile applications," he said, adding, "Such a training is available at very high cost outside which will be provided free of cost".
The training will be provided to students on merit basis initially.
Around 400 faculty members from across Madhya Pradesh will be provided training.
Students pursuing engineering in IT and computer science branches will be provided training on developing mobile applications.
These software will be functional in mobile phones based on all operating systems like windows, android and others.
The university has plans of dedicating a whole new academic programme to developing mobile applications from the next academic year.
"All students will get the knowledge of developing mobile applications when we start the new stream based on this subject next year," Prof Trivedi said.
