The proposed trauma care centre cum hospital would come up at the government veterinary hospital at Belgachia locality.

"It's in our plan to set up a trauma care for stray animals. It's in the pipeline," member, Mayor-in-Council (Health), Atin Ghosh said.

The trauma care centre would house 100 cages for the stray animals while another 100 cages would be there for the hospital, he said, adding, that there were plans to put up paid cages for pet animals too.

"It's a proposal of the state government and they will fund the whole project. We (KMC) will engage a consultant to prepare the detailed project report (DPR) for this unique project which will be submitted to the government," Ghosh said.
