Unit chief Sanjay Nirupam has promised to take action against those found guilty and apologised to the party worker. The woman, who is a district-level party worker, messaged Nirupam, saying, "The workers of Youth Congress and NSUI (the party's student wing) touched, pushed and shoved women workers in an inappropriate manner, making us feel unsafe among our very own party's male colleagues."

The party has issued an advisory to workers on how to conduct themselves during protests. "I also apologize to her," he said. "It is our foremost duty to protect women workers. We will surely take care of this and next time, ensure that all of them will follow the advisory properly."
