The strike was observed by city pump owners to protest against the decrease in their share of commission received on CNG sales. Arvind Thakkar, secretary Federation of Gujarat Petroleum Dealer’s Association said they used to get 57% commission initially with the rest 43% going to oil companies.

“But now we are getting only 50% commission. We are on strike to protest the same,” he said. The association will meet the government today for a solution to the issue.

“We might go on a two-day strike on June 16 and 17 if our demands are not met,” Thakkar added. However, auto drivers weren’t affected by the strike as they had tanked up their vehicles the previous night. “Also most of the company owned pumps were operating which reduced any further trouble,” said Kaushik Shah, vice-president, Ahmedabad Auto Rickshaw Driver’s Association.
