The Thane rural police have arrested three people for allegedly murdering a four-year-old girl, who was kidnapped, gang raped and later buried by them in marshy land.

Mohammed Yunus Shaha, 24, a resident of Bhayandar lured the four-year-old with a chocolate on January 9. He kidnapped her from her place and took her to Azad Nagar, where his accomplices​ Rona Raaini and and Jitendra Rao were waiting.​

The main accused, worked as a loader with the father of the girl, which facilitated the crime.

Shaha raped the minor girl and when she started screaming, the trio picked up a boulder and hit her on her head. "Later they picked up the body of the girl and buried her in marshy land", said a Thane rural police officer.

"The post mortem reports have revealed fracture on the head, we are awaiting postmortem reports for further examinations", he added.

Mahesh Patil, Superintendent of Police, Thane Rural, said, "We have arrested the three persons under sections 363(kidnapping), 364 (kidnapping for murder) 302 (murder), 201 (destroying evidence), 376(D) (gangrape) (2) (i) of the Indian Penal code."

"The accused are drug addicts and the main accused was friendly with the victim", said Patil.
