Interestingly on Wednesday morning, Mumbai recorded 19.6 degrees Celsius, but the temperature continued rising and the city expects the same kind of hot weather this weekend.

According to the information posted by the popular weather forecasting blog Vagaries of Weather, Thane (35.8 degree Celsius) was the hottest followed by Karwar (35.6 degree Celsius). Mumbai (35.4 degree Celsius) ranked third.

Meanwhile an IMD official said, “Not only is the maximum temperature of Mumbai high, but the winds are easterly that push the hot air causing the sea breeze to set in late. This causes a rise in the maximum temperatures.” He added that though the minimum temperature on Wednesday was 19.6 degree Celsius, it would have no major effect as maximum was very high.

Rajesh Kapadia, a Mumbai-based weather enthusiast, said that the west coast was witnessing high temperatures due to the ongoing easterly winds and hence cities like Thane, Karwar and Mumbai had higher maximum temperatures.

He shared that the same weather conditions were most likely to continue till weekend in Mumbai. “Mumbai’s maximum temperature will range in and around 35 degrees Celsius. Also due to low humidity, Mumbaikars are feeling dryness that makes the heat even more unbearable,” he stated.
