The woman, along with her husband and 38-year-old uncle, went for a pre-wedding function of a relative at Kajupada-Vadacha Pada village on Saturday night.

After the function, the accused misled the woman by telling her that her husband had already left for home in Ganeshpuri village, assistant police inspector G K Matondkar said.

Believing his uncle, the woman left the function venue alone. While she was proceeding towards home, the accused, who was following her, caught hold of her on the way.

He then dragged her to a nearby forest and allegedly raped her, the police officer said, quoting the complaint filed by the woman on Sunday.

He also threatened her with dire consequences if she informed about the incident to anybody, he said.

Based on the complaint, the accused was arrested on Sunday night and charged with sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, police added.
