Security forces today claimed to have thwarted a militant plot to carry out terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir ahead of Independence Day by recovering a huge quantity of arms and ammunition, including RDX, from a hideout in a village in Reasi district.Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising personnel of Jammu and Kashmir police, Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and CRPF launched a search operation at Bal Angralla village, 140km from Jammu, in Mahore tehsil in the wee hours today, a police spokesperson said.The team came across a militant hideout from where a huge cache of arms and ammunition, including 20kg RDX, was seized.The recoveries included 34 dura cell, 154 A K rounds, 19 pika rounds, one pika belt, 15 Chinese grenade, three H E grenade, one Yessu set, one AK magazine, three Antenna Helical, ration items, 1.5 safety fuse and two surgical blades.However, no arrests were made, he said, adding the explosives were meant to carry out strikes during or before Independence Day, he said.
