More than 23,000 teachers of various engineering colleges in the state have been on a protest since December 9 demanding the implementation of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) 6th pay scale. This resulted in stopping of the evaluation work for the past 20 days.

Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) issued a circular saying, the results of the colleges of the protesting lecturers will be withheld.

“When we have not taken up the evaluation work, how can they withhold the results? We are firm with our decision and the strike will continue till the state government issues an official order,” said KM Jagadeesha, secretary Federation of Engineering College Teachers Association of Karnataka.

If the government does not implement it, the federation will intimate the same to AICTE which will result in delay in counselling for professional courses through Common Entrance Test (CET) 2011.
