A video featuring Ashwin went viral a few days ago.
The Election Commission in Tamil Nadu is trying to ensure that everyone takes part in the voting process during the elections. With this in mind, they are making videos with celebrities in order to create awareness about the election process and voting.
The 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls are very important for the state. Recently, Rajesh Lakhani, the Chief Election Officer of Tamil Nadu told media that celebrities have been roped and that a video had already been shot with actress Nayanthara, which will be released soon.
Lakhani also told media that the Election Commission was keen on having Superstar Rajinikanth as part of this public awareness exercise. He said that they had approached the actor already for this purpose. Being the most famous and popular celebrity in the state, it made sense to rope him in for this purpose.
Two other celebrities who are part of this public awareness campaign are actor Karthi and cricketer R Ashwin. Both of them have already shot for videos.
The video featuring Ashwin went viral a few days ago on social media. In the video, he is seen telling youngsters to check if their names are on the electoral rolls instead of arguing whether Dhoni or Kohli is the better captain. The video is aimed at youth between the ages of 18 and 29.
