The monument will remain closed once a week in compliance with the orders of the apex court, Superintending Archaeologist of ASI (Agra Zone) N K Pathak said today.

He rebutted earlier reports that the monument will be opened to public on Fridays for a hefty entry fee.

Originally, the weekly closure was on Monday, but from 2000, it was changed to Friday, with the provision that it will be open for two hours in the afternoon for prayers of Muslims.
