As part of the drive to curb biker gang menace as well as to rein in on rash drivers, cops are keeping a close watch on all major roads of the city and also detain bikes frequently. During patrolling on CG Road, police officials of zone-1 squad detained an imported bike worth Rs5 lakh from a youngster, identified as one Mohammad Dawood Qureshi.

On Thursday evening, squad members stopped Qureshi, after spotting him zooming around on his 650 cc Hyosung GT250R bike bearing a temporary registration number. When cops asked for his license and registration papers, Qureshi failed to produce either of them.

Inspection of his bike revealed that Qureshi, who lives near Karanj police station, has been riding his bike for the last two months without taking permanent registration number. Till date, he has travelled 1900 Km on the temporary number. Cops detained his bike and asked him to collect it after producing requisite papers. According to police Qureshi is a student of Ankur school in Paldi.
