Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal today attacked the Congress-led Punjab government for "not implementing" the debt waiver as promised in party's poll manifesto.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal today attacked the Congress-led Punjab government for "not implementing" the debt waiver as promised in party's poll manifesto.
Holding Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Finance Minister Manpreet Badal responsible for the farmers' suicide, he alleged that the government had failed to keep its promise of waiving farm loans.
The SAD leader demanded immediate loan waiver for all farmers to stop the "wave of farmers' suicides" in Punjab.
"It is the finance minister who failed to implement the loan waiver as committed by the chief minister on the floor of the Assembly," Sukhbir said.
The SAD will not rest till the Congress government waives farm loans, he said.
Sukhbir along with his wife and Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal paid obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple here.
Taking a dig at Punjab Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu, he said he "hardly" knew about the development works.
He also held Sidhu responsible for "stalling" ongoing development works in Punjab.
Sukhbir also accused state government of lodging false FIRs against SAD workers in the state at the behest of Congress leaders.
