Two days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s snub, BJP MP Subramanian Swamy resumed his Twitter tirade.

Swamy, who began tweeting at sunrise on Wednesday, left much between the lines. The BJP, which had heaved a sigh of relief, faced questions on Swamy’s renewed aggression, in less than 48 hours.

In a television interview on Monday, Modi, without taking names, had said that fondness for publicity would not do any good to the country. The message was clearly directed at Swamy, who was hitting the headlines for taking on Union minister Arun Jaitley and senior officials.

“PTs: New problem: when publicity relentlessly seeks a politician. 30 OVs outside the house, 200 missed calls from channels and paparazzis?” he tweeted.

What got him more publicity on Wednesday was another tweet. “Friends tell me Arnab G is on his show nowadays foaming in the mouth chanting Muruga Muruga. Must have been bitten by a mad unelectable dog,” he said.

Twitter went abuzz trying to figure out who was the unelectable dog and Muruga, as Swamy targeted the journalist who interviewed the Prime Minister.

Swamy, however, said in further tweets that “muruga” was Tamil word for Subramanya. If his earlier tweets had given any impression that he was questioning the Prime Minister, he tried to dispel it. “I have said before and saying now: Come hell or high water, I stand by Modi. I admire his spine. No foreign power can buckle him,” Swamy said in another tweet.

"Presstitutes are daily planting deliberately false stories hoping I will be provoked to reply. Ha! They have a hope!," he said in another tweet.

On Tuesday, a day after Modi’s interview, Swamy had adopted a philosophical tone. "The world is in general equilibrium. A small change in one parameter effects changes in all variables. So Krishna advised: Sukh Dukhe...," he tweeted.

This was seen as the fallout of Modi’s message that people should conduct themselves with responsibility and that it was wrong for anybody to consider himself to be above the system. However, the question was how long will Swamy stick to being philosophical.

The BJP was uncomfortable about Swamy taking on Jaitley, RBI governor Raghuram Rajan, chief economic advisor Arvind Subramanian and economic affairs secretary Shaktikanta Das.
