On Monday morning, young students dressed in crisp new uniforms, schoolbags, water bottles and other paraphernalia began a new academic year at their schools. While some were excited about new classmates, teachers and studies, some tiny tots had a tough time bidding their parents, who had come to drop them off on their first day at school, goodbye.

"The first day was really amazing. It was surprising to know how students, for the school time of 7.30 am, came as early as 6.30 am, as they were excited about the first day.

“We also conducted an orientation tour of the school for the new students, explaining different sections of the school to them,” the principal of A-One School in Satellite, Viral Shah told DNA.

Meanwhile, principal of St Xavier's High School, Loyola Hall, Father Fernand Durai said that the school as such did not have any major welcoming for the students."It will be done after Friday, when the Class 11 students begin their academic year."

Other school staff were also heard saying that buildings which were silent for two months had suddenly come alive with the return of the students. Some teachers also began taking classes on the very first day itself.
