In yet another possible attack by the 'serial-killer' in Assam, a beggar was found seriously injured on Sunday even as the elusive assailant is believed to have killed six persons in the past few days.

The male beggar was found profusely bleeding with his head smashed on a road at Bhangagarh area of Guwahati city on Sunday morning raising suspicion that the elusive 'killer', dubbed as 'stoneman', could be behind the act.

He was admitted to Gauhati Medical College in serious condition.

A day before, another male beggar was found dead with head injuries, possibly inflicted by a sharp weapon, near the Shiva Temple in Manipuri Basti area.

The assailant, who had been targeting pavement dwellers, killed six vagrants in the city in past few days and injured five others using the same modus operandi of either hitting the unsuspecting men below the ear on both sides of the head or causing serious injury to take away their power of speech.

Robbery did not seem to be the motive behind the attacks as the mysterious killer did not take away the little cash or meagre belongings of the victims.

A baffled police force is now grappling with the little clues behind during the similar attacks.
