Alleging the State Election Commission was favouring ruling AIADMK ahead of next month's civic polls, DMK chief M Karunanidhi on Monday warned of legal steps if elections were not free and fair."It looks so," was his response when reporters asked if the SEC's activities were in favour of AIADMK.Asked if elections would be held in a free and fair manner, Karunanidhi said," if they aren't so, we will take legal steps," but did not elaborate. However, he called for cooperation of all parties concerned to ensure free and fair conduct of local body polls, scheduled for October 17 and 19.A tussle is on for the polls, with AIADMK, DMK and DMDK among others vying to take control of the over 13,000 civic bodies including nine city corporations.
