A local militant was among four people killed in Shopian district of south Kashmir on Sunday.

The Incident occurred at 8 pm when militants attacked the army vehicle near the Pohan village  of Shopian district

"A joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post was fired upon by militants at 8 pm near Pohan village in the Shopian district of South Kashmir. One militant identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar of Jamnagri, Shopian was killed and a weapon has been found with him,” said Colonel Rajesh Kalia, defense spokesman at Srinagar.

Later three more bodies were recovered from the car.

The Indian army said the slain were the accomplices of the militant.

“Three Over Ground Workers (OGWs)/ accomplices in the car who were accompanying the militants were found to be dead. Police have reached the spot and started legal formalities”, he said.

However, locals said three people killed were civilians.
