Crime branch officials in the city nabbed a youth from Gandhidham on Friday for uploading indecent photographs of a girl on a fake profile on popular social networking site Facebook. The youth had also posted incorrect information about her and used abusive language on the profile. The officials hacked into the fake account and figured out the identity of the youth using the IP address.

Officials arrested 18-year-old Ashish Oza, a native of Kutch. Oza is a student of BCA at the same college in Gandhidham where the victim studies. Upon interrogation, he confessed to having floated the fake profile. Further investigation revealed that the two had been classmates in school and the youth was interested in the girl since then. However, it appeared to be a case of one-sided love.

Oza had even proposed to her, but she stopped talking to him after that. This had depressed him a lot. Swearing vengeance for 'breaking his heart', the youth floated a fake profile of the girl and started posting her images and personal information.

Crime branch inspector Kiran Patel said, "We traced the youth by hacking the account and using his IP address. The photos posted are not doctored. We are investigating the source of those images and also how Oza got hold of them."
