A Madurai-bound flight of budget air carrier SpiceJet with 72 passengers returned to the airport here, shortly after it took off, following a 'technical snag' on Monday, airport authorities said.

The plane left at 6.50 am as scheduled but returned around 7.30 am after the pilot noticed a technical snag mid-air, they said. The specific reason of the technical snag is yet to be ascertained.

The flight resumed its journey an hour later, after the problem was rectified, the officials added.
