The Haryana Police will depute a specially-trained commando unit for the security of the National Capital Region, especially Gurgaon, a senior police official said today.

"The commando unit will be capable enough to tackle situations like those witnessed during the Mumbai terror attacks," Haryana DGP SN Vashisht said in a meeting, according to an official release.

The DGP said Rs 650 crore will be spent in the next two years for the modernisation of police and police housing.

Of the sum, Rs 100 crore will be spent for construction of 50 new police stations in the state, he said at the meeting of the State Level Empowered Committee presided over by Haryana Chief Secretary SC Choudhary here.

Vashisht said by providing better resources, the functioning of the police system would be further improved.
