Superintended of Police Sabharaj Yadav said constables Satyendra Singh and Mehboob Ali had yesterday gone to Babrala township to probe an abduction case.

"The accused ran inside Gunnaur MLA Ram Khiladi Yadav's house. When Sabharaj tried to follow him, he was stopped, beaten up and locked up in a room by the MLA's supporters. Ali, who was waiting outside the legislator's house, was chased away by them," he said.

An FIR has been registered against the MLA and 15 others based on a complaint by Satyendra, Circle Officer, Gunnaur, Suresh Babu said. The MLA's supporters have also filed a police complaint alleging that the constable used "foul language and forcibly entered the legislator's house", the CO said.

When contacted, the MLA said the constable tried to arrest a person without any warrant, and police registered the FIR to defame him.
