Sowing operations in Karnataka has picked up in the wake of parts of the state receiving widespread rains chief minister BS Yeddyurappa said today.Talking to reporters after reviewing the progress on sowing operations during this kharif season with officials of the agriculture department, he said 61.45 hectares of land has come under sowing as against 59.64 hectares last year.He said 17.92 lakh farmers have been distributed five lakh tons of sowing seeds and added the state maintined adequate fertliser stocks.Yeddyurappa said that of the total 3190 tanks in the state, 984 tanks have been encroached and so far 1716.32 hectares of land has been recovered from encroachers.
