In a bid to avoid traffic accidents on BRTS corridor owing to movement of people across the street, the Indore Development Authority (IDA) decided to construct foot overbridges at vulnerable places like the zoo and Orbil Mall.
This decision has been taken at a meeting presided over by collector Akash Tripathi on Wednesday. The officials also took decisions regarding bicycle operations through public-private partnership (PPP model), starting E-auto facility and extending ibus service till Pipliyapala Park.
Tripathi stressed on including suitable spots in front of zoo, C-21 Mall, Vishnupuri Bholaram Ustad Marg and Orbit Mall as places to be finalised for constructing the bridges. Some of these bridges will be equipped with accelerators.
Tech-savvy people of the city will now be able to upgrade themselves with ibus locations on BRTS corridor, fare, stops list and other relevant information with a facility to submit their feedback and suggestions to the concerned authority through their smart phones. The authority concerned has launched a mobile application that can be downloaded from Google play store for free of cost.
Besides, the authority is contemplating to introduce Wi-Fi facility inside ibus and at the bus stops. After widening Palasia and Geeta Bhawan Square to ease traffic burden at BRTS corridor, the administration has now shifted its focus on solving traffic glitches at Shivaji Vatika Square, Industry House tri-section, Bhawarkuan Square and Navlakha Square as a design has been prepared to carry out the works accordingly.
The officials concerned have been asked to get repair the damaged railings, the bus stops glass-door panels, light polls and dilapidated stretches at the corridor and take strict actions against anyone found damaging the same under Public Property Damage Protection Act.
Matter of developing ibus depot either in Niranjanpur or Rajeev Gandhi Nagar was also discussed during the meeting attended by IMC Commissioner, Rakesh Singh, BRTS Project CEO Sandeep Soni, DSP Traffic and other officials.
