Congress President Sonia Gandhi was on Tuesday discharged from a hospital here after recovering from a respiratory tract infection.

"Her condition at the time of discharge is stable. She has been advised rest and to continue her medications," said Dr DS Rana, Chairman of Board of Management at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

68-year-old Gandhi was admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening with lower respiratory tract infection and some breathing difficulty.

She was under the care of Dr Arup Kumar Basu, Chairman of Chest Medicine at the hospital.
