Solapur: Mother arrested for killing toddlers as they were 'hurdle' in extramarital affair
The woman's brother has been arrested as well. However, the boyfriend and the woman's father are absconding
The Solapur police on Sunday arrested two people, including the mother for their role in the murder of two toddlers.
On Saturday, the police had discovered the decomposed bodies of the babies. On questioning, the mother confessed that she had killed them as she found them to be a hurdle, as she was having an extramarital affair. The woman’s brother was also arrested for his role. However, her father and her boyfriend are absconding.
According to the police, the woman’s husband had decided to file a divorce as​ she was having an affair with another man from the village. On September 1, the ​accused ​left the house with her two ​sons and killed them. The bodies were later buried near the lake outside the village.
“We are yet to determine what she did to the children as their bodies were found decomposed. We are conducting a post mortem,” said Ashvini Shendage, Police Inspector of Malshiras police station.
The incident came to light when a villager noticed that the woman's​sons were missing for the past several days and informed​ the​police about the same. ​The police then began the investigation and dug up a government plot adjoining to the village where they found the bodies of the​toddlers in ​a ​decomposed state.
A case of murder has been registered in Malshiras police station on the complaint of the victims' father.
