Sohrabudding case: Kalimuddin & Nayimuddin are same, says Ram Jethmalani

The Andhra Pradesh police are hiding the mysterious third person, Kalimuddin alias Nayimuddin, who is alleged to be a Naxal-turned-informer of the AP police, alleged Ram Jethmalani on Thursday.

The senior lawyer was arguing for former minister Amit Shah's bail before the special CBI court in Ahmedabad. Nayimuddin is an accused in the ISI conspiracy case who is absconding.

According to the prosecution in the ISI conspiracy case, a group of four people hatched a conspiracy after the riots of 2002 to take revenge for the loss of life and property suffered by the Muslims during the violence. After that, they began to make preparations for carrying out terrorist attacks in Gujarat.

Financial assistance for this was provided by one Rasul Party, a henchman of the slain underworld don Abdul Latif. Party was also helped by the ISI, and Dawood.

Jethmalani told the court that Kalimuddin, with whom Sohrabuddin had stayed in Hyderabad, is a mysterious character. Geetha Johri's report to the apex court had suggested that Kalimuddin and Nayimuddin are likely to be one and the same person.

But the AP police did not support her in her investigations and, as a result, she could not probe this aspect of the case.
Jethmalani said the CBI had shockingly not mentioned this fact at all in its chargesheet.

"Sohrabuddin was alleged to be an ISI agent and was associated with the country's most dangerous underworld network. He was wanted in [Udaipur's] Hamid Lala murder case. But in Hyderabad he was under the protection of Nayimuddin," alleged Jethmalani.

"When the CBI came to know of this while taking the statement of Nayimuddin's sister, they were shocked by the revelation. After the revelation, the CBI did not record the statement of his sister any further which shows the CBI's dishonesty in its probe," Jethmalani alleged.
