She complains against govt for omitting her name from invites
The issue of mayor Jyoti Khandelwal’s name missing on invitation letters for foundation laying ceremony of underground Metro project has reached 10 Janpath, the residence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.
The mayor has written a letter to Sonia Gandhi, terming the episode as “insulting to a mayor who happens to be the first citizen of the city”.
In her complaint, she blamed the state government for having ‘double standards’ for her.
“The invitation letters for the programme had names of BJP MLA Mohal Lal Gupta, ministers, MPs, MLAs and officials. But it didn’t have Jaipur mayor’s name who is from Congress. I would also like to bring to you notice that the invitation letters of Kishangarh airport programme bore the name of even a municipal councillor, Gunmala Patni, who is from BJP,” said Khandelwal in her letter.
She further wrote, “It was an insult of a Congress mayor by the Congress-led state government. Is it justified? The copies of both invitation letters are enclosed for information and appropriate action (on the issue).”
Sources said that the invitation letter (without mayor’s name) was approved at the highest level of the government. So there is no chance of any mistake. It is to be mentioned here that the mayor has been continuously attacking MP Mahesh Joshi and indirectly criticising the CM too.
The mayor was also stopped by the cops when she was entering the ceremony venue at Pareek College ground in Chandpol on Saturday. The cops demanded the gate pass to allow her enter the VIP gallery.
She was even asked to sit in the compound with general public.
But immediately, some party leaders told the security officials that she was the mayor, and only thereafter, she was allowed to enter the VIP gallery.
