Haryana government on Monday said that eight persons have been diagnosed with swine flu in the state so far and six of them have been discharged from hospitals after treatment. The state had reported the first death due to swine flu with a Jind resident succumbing to the H1N1 virus at a private hospital last Friday.

State's Additional Chief Secretary (Health), Ram Niwas, in a statement said, "So far one person has died in Jind district due to swine flu. All family members of the deceased were examined. A baby showed symptoms of the flu, but it has also been discharged after treatment."

Civil surgeons in the state have been directed to set up tollfree numbers for receiving information about swine flu cases in their concerned districts. Isolation wards, ventilators have been set up in health institutions across all districts besides the Health Department keeping an adequate stock of Tamiflu medicine.
