MUZAFFARNAGAR: At least six people, including two policemen, were injured when a clash erupted between police and activists of Bhartiya Kisan Union after the police tried to arrest a BKU leader at Sisoli in this district on Monday.
 
Two people sustained bullet injuries when police opened fire to disperse a violent crowd of BKU cadres who indulged in stone-pelting to protest the arrest of their leader Mahender Singh Tiket, police said.
 
Four others, including two policemen were injured when the protesters pelted stones against the policemen who came to the town to arrest Tiket.
 
Tension prevailed in the area and Central Paramilitary Force has been deployed at Sisoli, they said.
 
The injured have been shifted to a hospital, they added.
 
Police had yesterday registered a case against BKU leader Tiket and others for allegedly making derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati under the Scheduled Castes and Tribes Prevention of Atrocities Act.
