The police at Malegaon in Maharashtra's Nashik district has arrested six persons for allegedly selling stolen mobile phones.

Additional superintendent of police Harsh Poddar said that the police also recovered a computer, a laptop and stolen mobiles worth Rs 14.5 lakh from the accused.

The accused altered stolen mobile handset's International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number before selling it, the police said.

Police teams headed by deputy SP Gajanan Rajmane conducted raids at six mobile shops on Saturday night and arrested Abulis Ahmed, Sufiyan Deshmukh, Ejaj Ahmed, Shoaib Nisar, Tamshil Ahmed and Layeek Murtuja.

All were remanded in police custody by a local court yesterday.
