DHARAMSALA: The next round of talks between envoys of Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and Chinese authorities scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed, a close aide of the Dalai Lama said.

The meeting scheduled for Wednesday as follow up of the May 4 talks at Shenzen has been postponed due to China's preoccupation with relief and restoration work following a massive earthquake there, said secretary to the Dalai Lama and his spokesman Tenzin Takhla.

"We are working on a mutually convenient new date within next few weeks for taking forward parleys for return of peace in Tibet after current protests and finding long-term solution to the vexed Tibetan issue," he said.

So far, six rounds of talks have taken place between representatives of Dalai Lama and Chinese authorities since 2002 on the Tibetan issue.
