Simplified trade licences in north Delhi

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) on Monday approved amendments in the trade licensing policy thereby making the procedure for obtaining a licence easier.

The revised policy will do away with several documentary requirements from various government agencies that was mandatory to obtain a trade licence. The policy has been amended in order to bring the maximum number of traders in the tax net, mostly belonging to the unorganised sector.

The move will generate greater revenue for the corporation. The proposal was passed by the Standing Committee of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC).

“As per the revised policy, traders will not be required to produce a NOC from the fire department. Trade licence will be issued to them within a week on furnishing any ownership proof. In case of safety clearance, certificate can be obtained from any architect as per convenience of the applicant,” Standing Committee Chairman Ram Kishan Singhal said.

The Corporation has brought multiple amendments in the policy, prominent among which are excluding the proof of ownership of plot in conforming industrial areas, building plan, site and key plan, five affidavits, blue print of sanctioned plan proof of tenancy, structural safety certificate for all buildings and fire NOC.

Besides, the traders will get a rebate of five percent on paying the one-time licence fee for three years.
