Dadar and Nagar Haveli: At least 5 dead after boat capsizes with 25 on board in Silvassa
The rest sailing on the boat have been taken to the hospital.
Five people are believed to have been killed after a boat with 25 tourists capsized in Dudhni lake in Silvassa, in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, reports Outlook India.
The rest of the people in the boat have been rescued, said Praful Patel, administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
The tourists are from Maharashtra and were going to a resort in Khanvel town. The lake is situated just outside the town.
Patel said that the boat was newly-bought by the resort owner and he had invited his family and friends from Mumbai and other places in Maharashtra to take the first ride on the boat when the unfortunate incident took place.
The rescued have been taken to a hospital in Silvassa.
