Rajnath Singh will hold a review meeting about security situation along Pak borders
For his first visit outside the national capital after taking over the mantle of Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh will visit the Siachen Glacier on Monday and hold a review meeting about the security situation along the borders with Pakistan.
The visit to the world's highest battlefield is also aimed at witnessing firsthand the living conditions of the Army jawans.
"During his visit, he will interact with jawans at a forward post and pay his tributes to fallen soldiers at the Siachen War Memorial. He will also interact with the jawans at Siachen base camp," read a defence ministry statement.

During the visit, the Defence Minister — who earlier held the Home Ministry — will be accompanied by Army Chief General Bipin Rawat and other senior officials from the Defence Ministry. At the glacier, Singh will be briefed about the operations being conducted by the Army along with the support of the Indian Air Force.
The visit comes as ties between India and Pakistan remain tense following the Pulwama terror attack and the subsequent Balakot airstrikes.
The Army has deployed a brigade in the tenuous area where some posts are located above the altitude of 23,000 feet, where even breathing is a challenge.
On Saturday, Singh assumed charge as the Defence Minister after which the ministry officials gave him a detailed presentation on the functioning of the ministry.
