The deceased has been identified as Mayuresh Kharche, while his grandfather has been identified as Nivrutti Kharche.

According to the police, Kharche was reportedly having grudges with his daughter-in-law Surekha (31). Reports state that Kharche felt Surekha was not taking proper care of him. Kharche was complaining about his ill-health and was upset that he was not being given food on time.

“With growing age, Kharche was getting annoyed over small things and used to get irritated on certain issues. He was not in good terms with Surekha and the duo often used to quarrel on random topics. On Sunday evening, the duo were discussing some property issues which ultimately turned into an ugly fight. When Surekha went inside for her household work, Kharche picked up Mayuresh and threw him out of the balcony of the seven-storied building. The boy was rushed to VN Desai hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors,” said senior police inspector Mahadev Vavhale of Vakola police station.

Surekha later registered a case against Nivrutti alleging that he threw her son out of the balcony in anger.

“We have arrested the accused and have charged him for murder under relevant section of the Indian Penal Code and he has been sent to police custody till June 02. We are still investigating the matter and finding out the exact reason behind the incident” Vavhale said.
