Shimla: BJP's mayor and deputy mayor assume office

Shimla Municipal corporation (SMC) mayor Kusum Sardet and deputy mayor Rakesh Sharma assumed office today.

The election of mayor and deputy mayor was held on June 20 but they deferred assuming office waiting for an auspicious occasion, sources said.

It was celebration time for the BJP which has won the top seats in SMC for first time in last 31 years.

The duo assured that they would do their best to fulfill poll promises including regular water supply, adequate parking, door to door garbage collection, solid waste management and easing traffic congestion etc.

Both also met Governor Acharya Devvrat at Raj Bhawan.
