SFI state secretary Debojyoti Das alleged that for quite some time the ABVP had been trying to unleash "a reign of terror" in the Jadavpur University among other educational institutions in the country. Das said that this explained why ABVP state secretary Subir Haldar yesterday threatened to cut off legs of "Left-aligned anti-national" JU students if they stepped out of the campus.

Das demanded immediate action by the authorities against those who held out the threat to students. Asked why the ABVP was stopped from screening the film "Buddha in a Traffic Jam", Das claimed, "The student's unit had never opposed the screening of the film. We are in favour of exchange of ideas. The film screening was cancelled by the union of former students. It has nothing to do with the students who are presently studying in JU."
