With very little information at their disposal, Delhi police were able to establish Ravinder Kumar's involvement in 6 such cases, reports an English daily. Two victims were from Begampur and rest were from Kanjhawala, Samaipur Baldi, Mundka, and Vijay Vihar.

Kumar told police that he lured children, boys and girls, with toffees or money, took them to isolated spots, raped them and strangled them to death. Then he dumped those bodies in drains or buried them in fields.

Kumar was arrested before for assaulting a minor boy in Begampur last year. He had abducted the boy near his house and then escaped after slitting his throat assuming the boy was dead. But the kid was saved as the police found him bleeding in the septic tank of an under construction building in Begampur.

His name came up when police were investigating the disappearance of 6-year-old girl.

As police questioned Kumar about the murders, he broke down and confessed to having murdered many more children.

This recalls the memories of Nithari murders of 2005 and 2006 in Noida, where several young girls reported missing were murdered by Surinder Koli.
