Sandeep Kumar has betrayed our movement: Arvind Kejriwal

A day after sacking Sandeep Kumar from his cabinet, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in a video declared that the minister has "betrayed the Aam Aadmi Party and the movement". 

Kumar, 36, who was the women and child welfare minister of Delhi, was removed over an “objectionable” video and photographs that also feature two women. He alleged that he was being targeted just because he is a Dalit.

“Sandeep Kumar betrayed the party. He betrayed the movement and the trust people across the country have placed on AAP. We will never ever compromise on our core values. We will prefer to die than tolerate wrongdoings,” Kejriwal said.

"If there is any allegation we take immediate action. We will not compromise on that," Kejriwal said, adding that all AAP candidates are selected after a thorough background check. 

Kumar on his part said he is not in the video but that he has resigned because he will not let the AAP's image get tarnished. He said he will always remain loyal to the party.

Meanwhile, several members of the BJP protested outside Delhi CM Kejriwal’s residence in New Delhi over Kumar’s CD. Both BJP and Congress demanded Kejriwal’s resignation over the issue.

Kumar is the third minister to be sacked by Mr Kejriwal since the AAP government came to power in February last year.

In October last year, Kejriwal had sacked Asim Ahmed Khan, 38, who was minister for food and environment on graft charges. 

In June 2015, Jitender Tomar resigned as law minister over faking his college degree. He was replaced by Kapil Mishra, who, within two months, was replaced as law minister by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
