Shiv Sena sheathed its swords against Bharatiya Janata Party to make an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Frenemy to the BJP for the past four and half years, Shiv Sena explained the decision to reunite via an editorial in its mouthpiece Saamna.

It says that BJP chief Amit Shah himself visited Matoshri (Thackeray residence) and Shiv Sena made their voice heard in the distinct 'Thackeray style.' The edit mentions Bihar CM Nitish Kumar leaving NDA twice and then coming back to make an alliance. It calls Akali Dal, JD(U) and Shiv Sena three pioneers of NDA along with the BJP.

The Edit keeps repeating that the situation is unlike 2014. BJP understands the need for allies and is working towards regrouping and getting the required number in the house. Compared to last Lok Sabha elections Congress and Rahul Gandhi have managed to salvage their reputation, the addition of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will strengthen the party. But if despite these efforts, Congress is looking at Mahagathbandhan for support, NDA is not doing anything different. (sic)

The article continues, that it will not be an easy path for BJP to reach the majority. They understood the importance of the alliance and resorted to repolish and strengthen the ties. Shiv Sena never bowed down to pressure and kept raising voice whenever they deviated from truth and Hindutva.

"In the democracy, especially in a parliamentary democracy, numbers are important. Therefore just like everyone else, we are also trying to reach the magical number. We have received positive answers to questions like 'when will they build Ram temple in Ayodhya? Will Shiv Sena get the CM's post?' We have reached a positive conclusion," read the article.

The article also took parting shots at Raj Thackeray saying that MNS was trying to partner with BJP and now that all attempts have failed they are looking for a back door entry with Sharad Pawar's NCP.

"Be it Shivaji Maharaj or Shiv Sena Pramukh (Balasaheb Thackeray), despite being stabbed in the back, they made sure the institution survives. This is not a compromise. We never turned, however, the tides of change wanted us to and history will take a note of it. Shiv Sena's sword hasn't lost its edge and shall never be sheathed."
