Samajwadi Party today said it would launch a statewide five-day 'jail bharo' agitation to protest the Centre and Uttar Pradesh government's "wrong policies".

"The party will launch the agitation from January 19 to protest against price rise, loot of farmers, misuse of machinery by UP government, poor law and order situation, anarchy, corruption and unemployment," party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said here.

"The Centre and the state government are ignoring the interest of the common people and their wrong policies led to price hike," he said.

He alleged government officers are working as agent of ruling BSP and complete anarchy prevailed in the state.

He said district and city unit presidents have been directed to constitute action committees at district, assembly segment and block levels to make the agitation a success.

"A resolution to launch a 'jail bharo' agitation was taken during the party's national convention held in Agra in August," Chaudhary said, adding that senior party leader would also participate in the agitation.
