Rudy told ANI, "There are clashes in Saharanpur and BJP is deeply concerned. We expect that normalcy should be restored in the state. It was a clash between two minority communities. And this is possibly what has been witnessed in Uttar Pradesh as a complete failure of the government."

"UP has witnessed more than 17 such cases in last couple of years. The rate of percentage in UP has gone up by 30% and it's a dismal performance of the state's government. The government of today has to take a call. The Union government fully supports any action taken to prevent riots. But after Muzaffarnagar, the Saharanpur incident is nothing new for UP and its government," he added.

On Saturday morning violent clashes had erupted in Saharanpur amongst two groups who reportedly clashed over a patch of disputed land close to the city's railway station.

The District Magistrate had yesterday indicated that the situation in the area was returning towards normalcy and claimed that no new instance of violence had occurred since it all started yesterday.

Till now nine FIRs have been filed and 38 people have been arrested post the clashes which led to three deaths.
