The central government will give a compensation of Rs 50,000 to the family of those who died due to coronavirus. The government has given this information to the Supreme Court.
The Center informed that all the states will give this amount from the State Disaster Relief Fund. The recommendations were made by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), which have been accepted, the government told the apex court. Now an ex-gratia amount of Rs 50,000 will be given to the families of those who have lost their lives due to the coronavirus pandemic, including those involved in relief work.
However, to get the compensation amount, the cause of death of the said family member will have to be certified as COVID-19. The report of the hospital or doctor will be valid in this case.
On Wednesday, the country reported 383 deaths due to COVID-19 infection in the previous 24 hours. With the addition of new deaths, the tally of the COVID-related deaths has gone up to 4,45,768, the Union Health Ministry said.
