Both the major political parties are claiming victory. In 2005 election, 39.25% voting was registered, and BJP registered victory in 39 seats and Congress had to be satisfied with 12. Polling was totally peaceful in the entire Bhavnagar city. But, heavy voting was registered in the backward areas and minority-dominated areas.

They predict 23 to 25 seats for BJP and nearly 20 to 23 seats for Congress, while CPM may open their account after 2000.
